My First Rocksbox - First Impressions, Review, Photos and Discount Code!

Rocksbox

My First Rocksbox

Rocksbox is a brand spanking new membership-based jewelry styling service. I know, another membership site, but Rocksbox is a bit different from the rest. As many other membership sites, you start out by taking a style quiz (or style profile) and based on your selections, a stylist will handpick items for you that should fit your own personal style.

In your Rocksbox, you will receive designer jewelry - (3) items to be exact to trial for up to 60 days. So unfortunately, all of the goodies aren't yours to keep permanently, but if you are interested in purchasing any items you received, you can with a 20% off member discount. What's really cool is that if you don't like your items, you don't have to wait for the month to be over. Just send the items back in the enclosed padded envelope and you'll be sent an alternative package. The amount of items for you to try each month is unlimited, and you will only be charged the one-time monthly fee of $19.

I wasn't sure what to think about borrowing jewelry, but once I received my box I quickly changed my mind.

Here's what I found in my little box:

Rocksbox Jewelry

All of the items in my box are trendy and edgy - exactly the kind of things I like to wear. I actually love all three items and I was extremely excited to see a piece from CC Skye. I love CC Skye jewelry, but don't own any. I've already worn the earrings and have worn the ring just about every day.

I'm already getting anxious to see what my next box will contain, but I can't part with this gorgeous ring just yet.. maybe in a couple more weeks. haha!

Like I mentioned, I was a little hesitant of the idea of borrowing jewelry. But it's really growing on me. It makes me think of some of the high end shops that celebrities and fashion bloggers might visit to rent a designer bag or some luxurious jewels for a red carpet event. I think it's fun to be able to wear items that might not be in your price range.. as women we all love to feel glam! It's also a great way to try new things and experiment with different styles without any commitment. I also think if you have a trendy or fashion related job, it's a nice option to be able to wear and constantly try a variety of designer jewels without having to put out lots of cash.

I also thought that it might be a hassle to return the items, but it's really not at all. The time period is long enough (60 days) where you don't have to feel rushed, and your package comes with an already labeled padded envelope. All you have to do it drop it in a mailbox. Simple as that!

The only downside is that if you do fall in love with an item, it may (depending on the item) be expensive as the pieces are designer labels. Sharing your items on your social media sites will score you a $5 credit, so keep sharing and you'll knock down the price of any item/s you want.

Wanna know another cool feature? Every month you are able to give one free month to a friend. So you and your BFF's can rock some pretty cool jewelry.

  1. It's rather like "jewelry for rent" no? I like this idea because I'm often unsure if I will like a piece on me from just looking at it online and of course there's people who want to change things up all the time. Seems like a great twist to the usual boxed services.

    1. Exactly! I think it's a great way to do some experimenting with different pieces. I'm eager to send the items back just to see what will be in my next box.. LOL but I'm really loving what I have right now.

    1. You just pay a standard $19 a month fee and you can try unlimited items. You get three items at a time, and you can send them back any time (within 60 days) and get three new ones! You can refresh your items every week if you'd like.

I put the retail prices next to the name of the items at the top, and I want to keep any of them, I would pay that price minus a 20% off member discount. So, still a little pricey if I want to purchase them, but sharing your photos on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc will gain you a $5 credit each time. There is no limit to the amount of shares, so that definitely lowers the price!

      Thank you so much! :)

  5. I think it's a pretty cool concept but not one I'd subscribe to.. Lets say what if you happen to damage one by accident? And I also find returning earrings unhygienic..

    1. I can understand that, although they do sanitize everything. In the survey you take you can choose not to receive earrings (or any other items) which is great!

If you accidentally lose rhinestones or damage an item, it's covered in your monthly fee. So no worries!

  7. This is a really cool idea I think. I like that you can try it on then return it later on because I find myself always lost interest of my jewelry after times and always wanted to buy new ones. This sounds like a really reasonable solution for me.

    1. That's really funny because I'm the same way. Sometimes you feel you have to have something but once it's in your possession, it's not that important to you anymore.

  8. What happens if the products were to get lost in the mail? Would you have to pay for all of the products?

    1. They provide delivery confirmation with each package, so it wouldn't be your responsibility if it never makes it to you. Their customer service is great. You'd only have to pay if you happened to lose any of the items.. So you have to remember to take care of the items as you are just borrowing them! :)

  10. You should try stitchfix. It is the same, but with nice clothes. You get a stylist...and then try on stuff they send you. Nice quality; mid priced stuff. Super cute stuff!

  11. Wow that is a good idea, especially for people who usually don't bother with accessories unless it's for a special occasion. So that helps de-clutter your home from things you don't normally need to keep around. For just $19 a month and that photo sharing credit sounds pretty helpful in the spending department! Thanks for sharing about this monthly subscription!

  13. I would love to know if its gold or not. Maybe gold plated? So expensive, not to be. Yes designer, but I wonder if it is or not. I am super sensitive to lead and nickel, so nothing but gold or silver can be worn for me. Great review.

  19. Hmm not too interested in this subscription box. Just seems like a waste of money for me personally to pay twenty a month just to borrow something and give it back. In the end I would have nothing to show for it except for maybe a photo of me wearing it.It may also leave me with a strong desire to own it and purchase impulsively when I probably shouldn't be both spending the fee and purchasing the jewelry. You are spending twenty, plus the cost of the item you want to keep. You would have to share the photos at least four times to cover the cost of the subscription fee alone, and then however many more annoying times to bring down the price of the jewelry itself.
I would rather save that money for a piece of jewelry I want to actually own. I also get impatient waiting for packages to come and go so the fact that i rent something and have to wait for it to get to me, and then I don't like it and I have to wait for it to get picked up and then wait some more for an alternative package just seems annoying
