MAC Shygirl Lipstick: My favorite lipstick of all time!

mac shygirl lipstick review

MAC Shygirl Lipstick

MAC Shygirl Lipstick is described as a creamy, neutral coral-beige. It's pretty accurate, but there is definitely some pink tones in Shygirl. To me, it's a mixture of pink, coral & peach with a hint of creamy beige. I never really considered Shygirl neutral - but I suppose it's not too warm, not cool - but somewhere in between. It has the tiniest particles of bright pink sparkles which makes the color shine beautifully on the lips.

The pigmentation is amazing, and because of the cremesheen formula, the color applies buttery smooth. It's a perfect every day shade and brightens up my face once applied - which is really why I wouldn't call this a neutral. Neutral (beige) lipsticks typically wash me out.

My only complaint about this lipstick is within the formula. Because it's so soft,
just about every tube of mine has tilted, smashed or melted. You ought to store this lipstick in the fridge if you live somewhere warm!

What do you think of Shygirl?

My November Favorites!

1) Revlon Colorstay Mineral Lip Glaze in Unlimited Nectar. This is the typical lip gloss I would wear every day. I would either pair it with Revlon Nude Attitude or wear it by itself. It is the perfect peach. And it lasts for hours, which is plus for me because I don't have time to reapply at work! As you can see, its pretty empty, so I need to buy a new one soon!
2) Napoleon Perdis Eyeshadow Palette. I bought this palette from Target by the holiday makeup sets for $9.99. I've been using these shadows just about every day. My favs. are the dark brown (which reminds me of Urban Decay Twice Baked) & the shimmery black. The colors are all pigmented and well worth $10!
3) NYX Powder Blush in Sand. This is definitely one of my new favorite bronzers. I've been using it just about every day since I purchased it. It's subtle, but you can definitely build the color. The consistency is so prefect that It never smears, blotches or gets muddy on my face. It blends flawlessly and it has a beautiful golden sheen.
4) NYX Single Eye Shadow in Dark Brown. I love this for filling in my brows. I like using it on days where I don't wear much makeup and I want my brows to look more natural. Like I've mentioned in previous posts, I love using it along with Make Up Forever's brow corrector.
5) MAC Mineralize Eye Shadow in Gilt by Association. I love smudging this under my lash line and above my lash line along with a black eye shadow. It's so gorgeous and gives my eyes a small pop of color and shimmer.
6) ULTA Nail Lacquer in X-Dry. This is my favorite top coat at the moment. My nail polish always lasts a solid week before any chipping and it dries in less than a minute.
7) LA Girl Matte Nail Polish in Turquoise. I usually get tired of nail polishes quick, but I keep on using this color without getting sick of it. I think its the perfect color for the season. :) I like to wear it matte, or with a shiny top coat.
8) MAC Stripdown Lip Liner. This is the perfect every day lip liner. I always wear it with my Revlon lipgloss, mentioned 1st.. and it looks gorgeous!
9) Covergirl Lash Blast. Yeah, I know you're sick of hearing it, but it had to go in my November favorites! 10) 40 Carrots Moisture Splurge. This is an awesome moisturizer I picked up at Marshalls for $6.99. I use it every day as a moisturizer before I apply my foundation. The consistency is runny, and It leaves my skin moist without being too saturated or creamy. And, the smell is amazing!!! It's mango and carrots. I can't get enough of this stuff.

What are some of your favorites this month?! Please Share!

NOTD: Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl! The perfect baby pink!

This is two (2) coats of Sinful Colors Beautiful Girl with no top coat.

The color of this polish is a bubblegum pink with a slight warm (yellow) tone that makes it very flattering on tanned skin. It's a creme formula, with no frost or shimmer. It is slightly sheer and can apply streaky with one coat, but with two coats the color is very opaque. Some may prefer to use three coats.. but I never usually do three.

I bought this nail polish at Walgreens for $1.99. I really like Sinful Colors Nail Polishes. They may not live up to OPI in staying power, but they have a very wide range of trendy colors with average lasting power. So far, I've had this on my nails for around 4 days and I love it. It's always been hard for me to find the perfect baby pink nail polish for my skin tone and this pink is actually very flattering for my skin tone because of the yellow tone it has. I don't know if this is a brand carried worldwide, but they do sell them on http://cherryculture.com.

Swap Goodies: Giorgio Armani Lipstick, MAC Lip Liner & Blush!

Hey Everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Mine was wonderful spending it with the people that mean the most to me :) And wow, I have close to 540 subscribers! That's awesome! Thank you everyone for reading, subscribing and posting about me! It makes me so happy when I get positive comments from you guys letting me know that my posts are helpful to you. I'm so happy I have a long weekend! Yay!

Anyway, I got a few goodies in the mail this week and I thought I'd share!
Giorgio ArmaniSilk Lipstick in shade #22 & Armani Lip Shimmer in #22

I should of wiped off the lipstick before I took this picture. lol

The lipstick sort of reminds me of MAC High Tea, but a little more pink. It has the same smooth texture, similar to a mac glaze or luster and it has a pretty shine to it. It is also very sheer and my lip color does show through. The gloss is also very sheer and is almost exactly the same color as the lipstick except it has a tiny hint of coral to it plus sparkle. This was such an amazing swap, she also added a really nice freebie :)

Left: The lipstick alone, Right: The lipstick with the lipgloss over it

MAC Powder Blush in Taupe (Matte)

This is a great color for me to use on days where I want minimal bronzer. Even though its very light, it show on my NC40 skin tone. It also looks like a lovely color to contour with. I will have a review for this soon on Make Up Alley.

I have it pictured with two of my favorites.. MAC powder blush in Honour (my favorite highlight) and MAC bronzer in Refined Golden. As you can see Taupe is a light powdery.. well, taupe. :)

Lastly, I got MAC Lip Liner Pencil in the shade Stripdown.

I'm surprised I never purchased this color before, but it has surely became my favorite MAC Lip Liner Pencil. It is the perfect color for a nude lip. It is a very light brown thats very flattering on my skin tone.

Here is a picture along with my other top favorites.

The swatches look funny b/c I took them on the side of my palm..

MAC Greasepaint Stick = Liner Love!

MAC Greasepaint Stick

I managed to get my hands on a MAC Black Greasepaint Stick from the Style Black Collection in a swap! I had no idea until I received it, that it's not only black - but it has purple reflects in it. Once applied though, the purple isn't that apparent unless you look closely. The formula is soft - and it is a very pigmented black. I thought because it called a "grease" stick, that it would be oily or greasy... but it's not at all! And, the color lasts all day! I've been using this as a liner and then smudging it to create a smokier, softer look. I hope this product gets re-launched in a future collection!!

Have you tried the Greasepaint Stick? Do you love it??!

Accessories/Betsey Johnson Haul!

Here's a few things I bought yesterday.. I'm loving them all! It's funny I ended up buying all Betsey Johnson.. not on purpose. If I haven't mentioned already, I am a watch fanatic. I LOVE WATCHES more than any accessory. If I like a watch, it's really hard to get it out of my mind.. and then I'll end up buying it. I have a watch in every color to match every outfit.. and I love over sized dials. It's so sparkly and its my favorite shade of pink. :)

Original $135 for $54.99 at Nordstrom Rack!

Seashell Earrings $11.97 at Nordstrom Rack

Cupcake socks! $6.99 at Marshalls

And I got this cute rhinestone bow ring at New York & Co. in the mall for around $12. It's very flashy!

And.. a couple other things from last week.. I've been on the lookout for a white ceramic watch with Rhinestones.. and while browsing at the TJMaxx Jewelry counter, I saw a white watch with Rhinestones I really liked for $79.99.

Love these! They were $12.99 at TJMaxx, I also saw them at Nordstrom Rack.

Thats all for my haulage!

Throw out your Skintimate Shave Gel & buy this!

Skintimate Shave Cream!!

It may be like a dollar more then the gel, but this stuff is amazing! It totally beats the shave gel. I will never use anything else! It makes my legs silky smooth and so very, very soft :)

This is the routine: Skintimate Shave Cream, Schick Quattro (yes, for men.. I think they work better) & Dove Cream Oil (makes my legs super soft and shiny) & BAM!

FOTD with MAC Antique Green Pigment!

I wasn't going to post this because It looked 1,000 times better in person. I could not get any decent pictures. Taking flash pictures always makes my eye shadow not look blended. But whatever. Here is what I wore on my eyes today. My MAC Antique Green pigment never gets any love so I decided to wear it today. It seems to irritate my eyes though so I may have to swap it out.. which stinks because its one of my favorite pigments. :'(

Face: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Tawny
MAC Select Cover up in NW25
YSL Touche Eclat #1
MAC Refined Golden Bronzer
MAC Petticoat MSF

Eyes: L'Oreal HIP Paint in Secretive (base)
MAC Antique Green Pigment (all over lid)
MAC Carbon Eye Shadow (in the crease & lined under eyes)
MAC Surreal Eye Shadow (blended into highlight)
Urban Decay Sin Eyeshadow (highlight)
Milani Eye Tech Liner Pen in Black
Ardell 111 false lashes (my favorite!)

Lips: NYX Fig Round Lipstick with MAC Fleshpot lipstick mixed over it

Covergirl Lash Blast Length Mascara Review!

Covergirl Lash Blast Length Mascara

Ever since I tried the Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara, I have been HOOKED. I wear it ever single day and it's probably my favorite drugstore mascara. When I heard that they came out with a Lash Blast LENGTH, I had to get my hands on it. Covergirl Lash Blast is a very good volumizing mascara, but it doesn't do much for length. Very Minimal.

So, my thoughts were: This mascara is going to be exactly the same as Last Blast but PLUS length!

Well, I was wrong. It does only length. And really, it didn't do anything for me. It barely made my lashes any longer. Maybe a microscopic half a millimeter? It is also very dry.. in comparison to the original Lash Blast. You don't get as much product on your wand. I seriously had to sit and apply this to my lashes for over 10 minutes and I had barely any length or volume. Sad. *sigh* BUT, on the plus side, it looks nice when I apply a coat of the CG Length and apply a coat of the CG Original over it. I do notice a tiny difference (which is similar to when I apply a lash base). The formula also didn't flake, smudge or go under my eyes.. which is a plus. I suppose if you like a really natural mascara, you might like this. But if you're looking for something dramatic like me, this is not it. Also, what may work for you may not work for me.

The wands in comparison to each other. As you may notice, the CG Length had a thinner brush and wand, and there is a lot less product on the wand.

Have you tried this mascara? What are your thoughts?

NOTD: OPI Ate Berries in the Canaries from the España Collection!

I took a trip to ULTA yesterday and picked up "Ate Berries in the Canaries" from OPI's Espana collection. For some reason I thought OPI was buy two get one free, but it wasn't. So I only got one nail polish. :( I had a tough time choosing between Ate Berries.. or No Spain No Gain, which is a little bit of a deeper purple. Ate Berries in the Canaries is a gorgeous fuschia. Pretty much the color or Barney the Dinosaur. lol I was worried it's a little too summery, but I think it's deep enough for a fall color.

My cuticles are SO nasty!! I have to start applying Vaseline to them daily.. I wash my hands a million times a day so they are so dry and cracked. I got these little gems from Target for $1 in those dollar bins when you walk in the store. You can use them for nails or some fun looks with makeup :)

MAC Fleshpot Lipstick Review + Comparison to MAC Myth Lipstick!

mac fleshpot lipstick review

MAC Fleshpot Lipstick

MAC Fleshpot Lipstick is an ultra-pale pastel pink with a satin finish. The satin formula isn't my favorite - although the color is very opaque, I find the formula to be drying on my lips. Also, because the finish is almost matte, I find it to look too dull on my lips, so I always top it off with some lipgloss.

It's a good color to use for mixing, and toning down other colors. Combined with a clear lipgloss, it reminds me of MAC Underage Lipglass.

It resembles MAC Myth very closely - on the lips, I can barely tell the difference. Side by side, Myth is more peach, whereas Fleshpot is more pink. Neither flatter my skintone when applied alone, but they work well lightly patted on the lips, with a pink lipgloss on top.

MAC Fleshpot is a MAC Pro shade and can only be purchased at a MAC Pro store. I believe you can also purchase on the phone, by contacting customer service.

Matte Nail Polish!? NOTD w/ L.A. Girl Matte Nail Polish in Turquoise!

Whats your take on matte nail polish? I was deciding for a while whether I liked the concept or not.. considering when I polish my nails, I apply a thick clear top coat because I love my nails to look extremely shiny. Dull nails? It reminds me of when I paint my nails hot pink and it always dries matte, and you have to make sure to put a top coat. Well, I decided to jump on the matte band wagon and buy a matte nail polish. I purchased L.A. Girl Turquoise Matte Nail Polish (from forever 21)

...to match my teal boots I bought. haha!!!!

$27.80 at forever 21.

Well, I'm sold on the idea of matte nails. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. I loveee this color too. It actually lasted one full week before a nail chipped. I was pretty surprised. And I'm happy to announce I got out of my "I don't think I can pull off dark colors on my nails well" phase.. and starting wearing lots of dark colors and I'm loving them!

Do you have a favorite shade of matte nail polish to share?!

NYX Dark Brown Eyeshadow, a great brow filler!

nyx dark brown

NYX Dark Brown is a medium-dark, milk chocolate matte brown. It has a slight warm yellow undertone, as opposed to a red undertone that you may find in some brow powders. This works great with my hair color and would work well for anyone with light to medium brown hair. For those with black hair, you may want a color that is slightly deeper.

I've been using it almost everyday along with my Make up Forever Brow Corrector. It is the perfect shade of ash brown. The consistency is a little powdery, and it is pigmented, but it's not too pigmented (where it makes your brows look painted on.) So when applied, it isn't harsh. It applies light and natural like a brow powder would.

Plus, it's inexpensive and will last you a long, long time. I would compare this to MAC Espresso, one of my favorites for filling my brows.

Here's a swatch on my hand..

Heidi Klum for Victoria's Secret Makeup.

You can view the whole collection here Has anyone tried any of the products? The Eyeshadow palette looked gorgeous and I swatched the colors and they were pigmented and true to color.. but I figured I didn't need it and I have all the colors.. but it is soo tempting because it looks so pretty. lol

I did buy the Heidi Klum Luminous Face Powder Gems. They looked pretty irresistible and it was $22 which didn't seem too bad.

Product Description: Illuminating powder spheres brighten and balance for a sultry, jewel-like glow. For an even blend of radiance, swirl your brush over the powder gems in a circular motion. Lightly tap to remove excess, then apply all-over face, building color on cheeks if desired. I've only used the gems today.. and so far I really like the color. I used it with a lot of the darkest pink gems and the color really suits my skin tone. I'll have a review for this soon. :)

I also picked up the Very Voluptuous® Lip Plumper Extreme.

Its clear, but the brush is discolored from my lipsticks The regular non extreme lip plumper costs $18 and the extreme costs a whopping $26. The EXTREME label tempted me.. but I don't really think there is anything extreme about it. I'm pretty disappointed with it. I love lip plumpers and the burning or tingling feeling it gives your lips. This one in particular has no tingle or cooling minty effect. It just burns a little.. as if I wiped my lips with cayenne pepper. It turns them slightly red but it didn't irritate them or really make them appear fuller. sad. *sigh* I guess a pro can be that it is pretty moisturizing? lol I should of just stuck with the regular one.. I know lots of people love it. I may end up trying it in the near future.

NYX Round Lipstick Pictures!

Lipsticks from left to right: NYX Frosted Flakes, NYX Echo, NYX Rea and NYX Summerlove.

Lipsticks from left to right: NYX Strawberry Milk, NYX Fig and NYX Louisiana.

So far, my two favorite colors are Fig and Louisiana. Fig is a very wearable pink that I can probably wear every day. You can tone down the color with a little nude gloss. Louisiana is similar but it is a lot more vibrant. I can't wait to wear it for a night out. :)
