My Face of the Day.

Haven't posted one of these in ages! This is pretty much my usual makeup look using all products that I use on a regular basis. I don't wear false lashes often, but I recently ordered some Red Cherry Lashes and I've been wearing them almost every day because I love them so much! Strangely, my eyelashes are almost non existent as of lately and I'm not sure why. I think since I've begun using Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara, I've lost all of my lashes. (This happened to me when I was using Covergirl Lash Perfection too - good mascaras, but for whatever reason, they pull my lashes out) So I've been resorting to falsies for the time being and I purchased the Ardell Brow & Lash Growth Accelerator treatment I used in the past to grow my lashes back.

I've had a few questions regarding my eyebrows because they are lighter than they were before. I bleach them every three weeks using Sally Hansen Creme Hair Bleach and I've switched to a lighter shade in my Make Up Forever Aqua Brow. I really like the way they look now.

Products Used-

Face
Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge (tinted luminizer, skin treatment and spf - used as a base)
MAC Pro Longwear Concealer NW25 (applied under my eyes)
Guerlain Parure Extreme Foundation #3
NARS Laguna Bronzer (applied all over the face)
NARS Oasis Blush (applied to the cheeks)
MAC Superb Extra Dimension Highlighter (applied to the highest points of my cheeks for shine)
Ben Nye Neutral Set Powder (applied to my undereyes and t-zone to set foundation)

Eyebrows
MAC Spiked Eyebrows Retractable Crayon (used to shape my brows)
Make Up Forever Aqua Brow #15 (used to fill my brows in)
MAC Girl Boy Brow Set (tinted brow gel)

Eyes
Nars Lola Lola Eyeshadow
Nars Night Fever Eyeshadow
Red Cherry #82 Eyelashes (my new favorite lashes!)
Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara

Lips
MAC Soar Lip Liner
MAC Insanely It Sheen Supreme Lipstick (very lightly dabbed on my lips)
Nars Super Orgasm Lipgloss (my new favorite lipgloss!)

*Nars eyeshadows not pictured.. oops!

I'm working on a post as we speak on the Nars Eyeshadows I used in this look - it should be up in a couple of hours!

  1. You look so beautiful Natalie! And that's so strange about the CG mascaras pulling your lashes out. That's one of my phobias actually, losing my own lashes, so I do hope the Ardell growth accelerator works! xx

    1. Thank you so much Lilit! It must be a really drying formula.. I used it the other day and when I wiped my eyes I lost at least 6 lashes from each eye. It was the last straw. My lashes are so thin and wimpy now... it's so irritating! Thank you dear! It worked really well for me in the past so I'm hoping it will make them as good as new again! :)

  4. Gorg, Natalie! What do you do to prevent your mascara from transferring to below your eyes? I feel like even when I powder underneath my eyes, I always get transfer, so I haven't been putting mascara on my lower lash line :( Does using waterproof mascara solve that problem?

    1. Thank you!!! You know what.. I have huge issues with mascara transferring. I've tried absolutely everything - switched foundations, tried different concealers (because at one point I thought it was caused by my really creamy/emollient concealers), tried different powders, tried waterproof mascara and even tubing mascara, using a base, skipping the bottom lashes - everything!

What I really think it is, is the natural oils in your skin (and possibly if you're using an oil based foundation and concealer) that break down the mascara, causing it to smudge. Because we all know that oil removes mascara, which is why a good oil based cleanser is the best for removing makeup. So you'd think this would happen to everyone, right? Strangely it may be a huge problem to some, and some may never experience it.

I haven't been able to find a solution, so I only stick to the mascaras that I know do NOT smudge. If you're shopping for a mascara, make sure that one of the product claims is "SMUDGE FREE". Covergirl Lash Blast is smudge-free, so it's really one of the only mascaras I can wear that I know won't end up under my eyes. Any of the Last Blast formulas work - Covergirl mascaras in general work well for me.

It might just boil down to the way our faces are shaped.. maybe our eyelashes graze our skin more than others. It totally stinks! If I find a solution though, I'll make sure to do a blog post!

  5. You look so pretty! I keep hearing about the Nars Super Orgasm lipgloss. I've never used any Nars lip products (I love their blushes and tinted moisturizer). I love that shade on you. How is the staying power?

    1. Thank you so much Emily! I purchased it because Tanya Burr (Youtube makeup artist) said it was her favorite lipgloss.. and I love her taste in lip products. She was so spot on! I typically don't like to spend so much money on a lipgloss (because I go through them like crazy) but I'm so happy that Nars is a great formula. It's super moisturizing, and I have very dry lips 24/7 and it keeps my lips super soft. The staying power is excellent.. It's still there after a few hours. I'd highly recommend it if you'd want to splurge!

  12. Could you write a post on bleaching your brows? I have a similar complexion and hair color and am interested in doing it. Thought it might "lighten up" my look.

    1. Sure! My brows are naturally very dark and coarse so by the time I fill them in, I think they can look a little harsh. Especially If I don't have a tan. It's such a small change, but I really feel that it makes a pretty big impact on my face! I'm going to bleach them this week, so I'll make sure to post about it.

  13. You are stunning as always! You can never look ugly. :) About that clumpcrusher, I was loving it at first, but when I went to take off my make-up, my lashes came out so easily too! I'm not talking on or two, Im talking CLUMPS. So disappointing because I liked the length and separation I got when using it. Never before have I had it come out so easily. I need to start applying my oil to moisturize them because I feel like maybe the formula is drying out my base skin and that's why they are coming out so easily.

    1. Aw thanks sweetie!!!! I was loving it too! I thought I found a new favorite mascara. YES!! CLUMPS! Every time I remove my eye makeup I lose several lashes.. it wasn't until I noticed one day how CRAPPY my lashes looked. They wouldn't hold a curl because they were so limp, wimpy and sparse. You're probably right about it being drying. Such a shame!

PS. I haven't forgot about your email regarding the camera.. I have a response in my drafts that I didn't get to finish. I'm super behind on my emails. I'm going to get back to you asap!

    1. Really!!? Wow! I'm happy to know that I'm not the only one - although I'm not happy that you've lost any lashes. :( Now I know for sure it was the culprit. I might have to go back to Maybelline Falsies for a while..

  15. Your eyelashes and eyebrows (actually your whole face) look stunning! I would love for you to tell us exactly why you like these particular false eyelashes the best. I'm taking a break from eyelash extensions and I lost a lot of eyelashes too. I would really love to know which eyelash adhesive you like best. A false eyelash tutorial would be fantastic! I would love to feel more confident about applying false eyelashes, yours look fantastic!

    1. Thank you Shannon! I have small eyes and my eyebrows are naturally pretty low. So I find that many eyelashes are either too large for me or can look too dark and unnatural on my eyes.. and if they are long, they will touch my eyebrows. Glamour Lashes (the dark wispy ones) look terrible on me. I love the look of long eyelashes, but they have to be the right combination of long, without being too dense and dark. These just seem to fit my eye shape/face so well. They blend in naturally without making my eyes look super dark and fake.

I switch off between Revlon Precision Lash Adhesive and DUO Dark Tone Adhesive.. I LOVE how easy the Revlon one is to use because it has a brush applicator, and it's also a very sticky/tacky adhesive so you can apply it right away to your skin and it will stick. It stays in place pretty well, but it dries super quick so you really have to work quickly and press it down firmly on your skin. I ultimately prefer DUO though in terms of wear. If I'm going to wear lashes for several hours, I prefer DUO. I know my lashes are going to be super secure.

I have a tutorial on my tutorial page, but I know it's super old, so I'll do an updated one very soon!

      Thank you so much!

  17. Do you still have your ombré in? Did you touch it up at all?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes I do! I've only touched it up once since the initial time, and every couple of weeks I let a purple shampoo sit in my hair for around 20 minutes to tone down any brassiness. I don't have really any blonde in my hair now, but I think I like it like this.

  30. You look beautiful Natalie. I lost so much of my lashes when I had lash extensions done. The glue practically melted my lashes away. It was terrible. I actually nursed them back with organic almond oil. I was applying it every night before bed with a clean mascara wand (so to cover all the lashes I had left); I would also massage a bit into the lashline; of course making sure I didn't get any in my eyes. Within a matter of a week, I started seeing new lashes come through and the existing ones strengthen. I know products vary from person to person but I thought I'd let you know ;) xx Sarah

    1. Thank you so much Sarah! Ugh, that's terrible! I've always wanted to try extensions, but I'm scared of that happening.. and I know there is probably loads of upkeep with them. I actually have organic almond oil and I use it all of the time on my body after I get out of the shower. I never thought of putting it on my lashes.. thank you so much for the tip!!

    2. No problems at all, I hope it helps you as much as it helped me. As for the lash extensions, I'm not gonna deny, they really do look great. I didn't even have to wear mascara, you shower and they're there, you wake up still all glammed up :) People were saying to get it done at a pro salon and the consultant was trained etc. I was very careful with all that but it was the glue itself that caused all the damage. And you're right, they never last as long as the 4 weeks they claim and you have to keep going back for refills...which means more glue (and money). I know it's more high end compared to Covergirl but I swear by Lancome's Hypnose Drama mascara. Well worth a try if you're a lash freak like me :) xx
