MAC Nice 'n' Spicy Pro Longwear Lip Pencil ($19.50) is a soft, rosy-brown with a warm, spicy terracotta undertone. It's a great shade for warm skin tones, and it's light and neutral enough to wear with most lipstick colors. It's long-wearing and transfer-proof.

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencils are my absolute favorite lip pencils - my favorite shade is Staunchy Stylish, which I've talked about prior on my blog. I couldn't get enough of it, so I stopped by a MAC store for another everyday neutral liner in the Pro Longwear line and left with Nice 'n' Spicy. Although I find that Staunchy Stylish is a bit more wearable for me (because it's a bit more rosy w/ less red and I wear pink lipstick most of the time), I love Nice n Spicy and use it just as much. More so when I'm wearing peachy, coral or neutral lipsticks.

I love these liners for a few simple reasons. For one, the texture is amazing. It's velvety smooth and the tips never becomes dry and tugs on the lips. The pigmentation is fantastic - it's completely opaque in one stroke. The product dries quickly and is almost instantly transfer-proof. And lastly, when I apply a really emollient product on top (such as a lipgloss), the liner still doesn't budge. A standard lip liner would typically smear or blend in with any product added on top, but not these. Which makes these liners perfect for over-lining your lips to make them appear slightly fuller. The finish is matte and it's super long lasting - that outline isn't going anywhere!

I don't have a very distinct lip line; especially my top lip and cupids bow, so these pencils for me are a daily necessity. I highly recommend checking these out if you haven't already!

I applied a solid coat in the first photo so you can see the color better, but you can also apply it lightly, or sheer it out with your finger so the color won't be as intense. I usually only outline my lips and blend the line in a bit with my finger as opposed to applying it all over my lip. My lips are too prone to dryness to apply it all over my lips.

The Round-Up

Pros:
  • Glide silky smooth on the lips
  • Bonds to the lips and dries almost instantly to a soft, matte finish
  • Opaque color
  • Transfer-proof
  • Long-lasting - longer lasting than any other lip liners I own - holds up well through meals
  • Ideal for those with a faint/uneven lip line - you can correct your lip line and it will last for hours
Cons:
  • If you were hoping to wear these alone, I wouldn't exactly recommend it. When used by themselves, they look a bit dry and dull on the lips.
Price: $19.50, MAC.

  5. I'm glad you pointed out the texture as "velvety smooth" It's a pet-peeve of mine when lip liner is coarse and dry.

  6. From the picture it seems to be identical with Spice lip liner. Are they so similar in person? Thanks.
