Happy Valentine's Day! (My Weekend)

Hey Everyone!
Happy Valentine's Day! Hope you all had a great weekend!

I've had a few requests to "review" George's Birthday and Valentine's Day. And although I like to keep my blog beauty related, I do a personal post here and there. So here it is.. :)

I mentioned Friday that I was going away for the weekend. I had actually posted that on my way out the door, coat on and everything - so my thoughts weren't very well organized. I may go back and edit it or possibly post a full review of Cinema Secrets at a later time.

Anyway, our destination for the weekend was New Buffalo, Michigan to stay at the Four Winds Casino Resort. I've never been to Michigan, even though it's so close by. It's only around 90 miles away.. which is around a 2 hour drive.

We arrived Friday night.. maybe around 10 PM or so. While George was downstairs, I had quickly decorated the room. I made a rose petal trail from the door all the way to the bed where I had a little bunch of roses and a picture frame with a picture of us.
He loves my baking, so the night before I made peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips and chunks of Reese's peanut butter cups (his favorite) and chocolate truffles. A couple of years back a friend taught me this awesome recipe that consisted of cream cheese, Oreo's and white chocolate. All you had to do was crunch up the Oreo's into little crumbs and mix it with the cream cheese. Roll the mixture into small balls and dip them in white chocolate. Simply delicious! I did my own take on them and made two different fillings. One with cream cheese, peanut butter, graham cracker crumbs & a little sugar and the other filling was the same thing, but instead of peanut butter.. I used Nutella. They were sooo yummy!

I put the yummy treats on heart shaped plates. I also purchased lots of goodies from Rocky Mountain Chocolate in the mall which I also put on small heart shaped plates and put them around the room. (chocolate dipped strawberries, chocolate dipped rice krispy treats, chocolate dipped oreos, chocolate dipped marshmallows, etc)
The hotel room consisted of a bedroom and a sitting area with couches where you can watch tv, etc.. so in the sitting area I lined up all his gifts & cards on the tables. I also purchased a bottle of Nuvo, a "Sparkling French Liqueur" and put the bottle in some ice, next to two wine glasses (yes, it's not wine - but I had to improvise LOL). Neither of us drink, but I thought we'd give it a try. It came in a very pretty pink bottle.

Here's a peek inside one of the cards (Yes, I bought him more than one). The front of the card was a black and white photo of a little girl and boy holding hands - so on the inside, I made copies of baby pictures of me and him, cut them out in heart shapes and glued them inside the card. He loved it.. lol

Ever since we've started dating, George has always cut out the "Love is" poems from the newspaper and given them to me (if he thought it pertained to us). I copied all of my favorite ones and gave them back to him. We read them together and had some laughs. I also put fake Valentine themed lottery tickets all over the room for him to scratch for fun.. haha!

Lastly, I lit some red candles that I placed all over the room & when he walked in the room he was so surprised and loved every bit.

We wasted no time and went down to the casino where he played poker, and I played slot machines. We stayed at the casino all night and went back up to the room to eat a bunch of the goodies & get some rest.

We had some fun at the Casino again on Saturday and went to dinner. The restaurants were packed for Valentine's Day, so we ended up eating at the Buffet. No complaints! I was very surprised by the quality of food they had. Everything was very good!

I always like taking pictures of my dessert...

Then George joined me and played slots and we ended up playing till around 5 AM.. We were both zombies by that time & we went back upstairs and slept like babies :)

Sunday morning we stayed for lunch and made it back home by the evening. It was a really nice time! I really didn't take any pictures.. Me and George weren't in the "picture mood" all weekend.

As for today, Valentine's Day.. I'm not doing anything because George unfortunately is working late. He did bring me flowers, a card and balloon in the morning which was sweet.. But no going out for me today :( I'm not bummed though because we kind of combined Valentine's Day into George's Birthday.. and it was kind of like a Valentine's/Birthday weekend.

That's pretty much it! What are your plans for tonight? Anyone staying home too??

The past couple of days..

Hey Guys!

I haven't posted, answered any questions on my formspring or comment box in the past few days because I was out of town for a few days and just came back yesterday. I ended up sleeping all day yesterday because I came down with a bad cold. I'm still feeling a little crummy today and will probably take a nap pretty soon.

George had to go to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for business.. and the same day we got there, happened to be the biggest blizzard in years. We still had a nice time though..

I was wearing MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation for the past few days and forgot how much I loved it. I haven't worn it in months.. but it is a really great foundation.

This was when we were stuck in the blizzard. There were three trucks trying to make a path for us so we could get through. The snow was over a foot high.. and the winds were so heavy we could barely see in front of us.

We did get stuck on a side street for a little bit.. but my car was a champion and made it through. lol

This was when we got back to the hotel and parked in the garage. There was SO much wind it was blowing the snow everywhere.
George was checking out the view.. lol
Here I am exhausted...

Luckily the roads were all clear by the morning..

We went for lunch at a Japanese Restaurant called "Kiku". It was absolutely delicious! If you live in the Milwaukee area.. I definitely recommend you to try it out!
There are so many different menu choices and pictures of everything. That was my strawberry smoothie by the way.. delish!
Philadelphia Rolls.. Yum! How pretty is the presentation?
I had Chicken Teriyaki and George had beef over noodles. I don't think I've ever had such a big plate presented to me in my life. lol The food was soo good! Everything was very flavorful and fresh.

That's pretty much it! I'll get to any unanswered questions now and work on some reviews I've been meaning to post.. :) Talk to you all soon! <3

FOTD: Natural w/ Black Winged Liner + a Couple Vacation Pics!

Hey Everyone!

I didn't really explain that I'm on vacation, but if you've been seeing my twitter updates.. you may of caught on. I'm on vacation in Minnesota visiting one of my really close aunts. She has always been like my second mom and she means the world to me. She has always visited Chicago for every birthday or any occasion that is special to me or my family. She has always been there and I'm so graceful for that. It's really nice to be here spending quality time together.. I haven't seen her in over a year.

Having a picnic in the park..

We went to the casino as soon as I arrived... I looked terrible. lol wasn't really expecting to go anywhere after a 7 hour drive..

Warming myself up by her awesome fire place. lol my aunt loves taking pictures. I blame her for any type of photogenic-ness I have today and for my love for photography. Shes always behind the camera.

Having lunch by the lake

lol, my aunt made me take a picture by this..

I got a free sundae ;)

Wouldn't be Minnesota without some cows!! haha

I'll be sad to leave.. but hopefully I'll be able to visit more often. :)

Here's my face of the day..

I never usually apply my liner like this.. I usually only apply if halfway on my top and bottom lash line.. but I noticed in photos my eyes looked very small. So I decided to apply my liner across my whole top lashline a little thicker than what I'm used to.. to make my eyes look larger and more round. And, apply no liner on my lower lash line to make my eyes look more open. I really liked how it looked and I'm sure I'll be wearing my liner like this more often.

Face:
Prepped my skin with Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel (first time using this)
Applied MAC Select Cover Up Concealer in the shade NW25 to my under eyes using my MAC 190 Brush.
Applied NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in the shade Stromboli to my face using my fingers and blended lightly. Then, I buffed it in using my MAC 131 Brush to better blend it.
Applied MAC So Ceylon Mineralized Skinfinish to my cheeks using a powder brush.
Set my under eyes with Rimmel Lasting Finish Translucent Powder (love this!)

Brows:
Maybelline Define-a-Brow Pencil in the shade medium brown

Eyes:
Shiseido Mascara Base
Covergirl Volume Exact Mascara
Shu Uemura Eye Lash Curler ;)
Ardell Accents Lashes (I believe #305? They are the halves)
Mary Kay Black Liquid Liner
A very, very light sweep of Urban Decay Last Call eyeshadow on my lower lash line (a plum color)

Lips:
MAC Shygirl Lipstick

Pic from today..

Spent some quality time with my BFF today! We always have the greatest time together even when we're doing nothing..
Every time we go out together, we get numerous questions if we're sisters. Do you think we look anything alike?

George is on TV!

During our Vegas trip, George played in the World Series of Poker & made it to the featured table.. which typically has a few well known poker players and there is a live announcer specifically for the table and the cameras (ESPN) are rolling the whole time.

So, the WSOP 2010 is finally being aired.. and I'm going to my BFF's house to watch it!

This was me on the phone telling her to put her TV channel on ESPN and watch it till I get there to make sure I don't miss anything.. LOL

Luckily, I didn't miss anything...
I took a picture of the TV.. Me & my friends were SO excited to see him!! He's on the far left.

Update: I captured tons of screen shots.. here are a couple.

Weekend in Downtown Chi + Sprinkles Cupcakes!! (Pic Heavy)

Me and George decided to spend the day downtown together and get some cupcakes! Sprinkles cupcakes are our absolute favorite and when we heard that one was opening in the Summer of 2010.. we were ecstatic!

Here are some photos I took from the day..
Some views of the city streets..

My makeup had all melted off by this time..

Sprinkles! There was a bit of a line.. but we only had to wait 15 mins or so.. which wasn't bad at all!!

We bought a 1/2 dozen. Top L to R: Peanut Butter Chocolate, Milk Chocolate, Red Velvet
Bottom L to R: Black & White, Milk Chocolate & Vanilla Milk Chocolate. I love the Vanilla Milk Chocolate and the Peanut Butter Chocolate. Soo yummy!!

After Sprinkles, we went to Greek Islands for lunch/dinner. (Yes we totally did dessert first)
I had lamb. I don't really like lamb.. but I have a taste for it a couple times a year.

We decided to take a little drive to the lake to relax and sit by the rocks..

He was staring at the dragonflies flying over his head LOL.. They were literally all over the place. You'd literally get smacked in the face by one while you were walking. Plus, there were TONS of mosquitoes.. so we decided to take a rain check and just go home..

The mosquitoes this summer are the WORST they have ever been!!! I barely ever want to go outside! :(

How's the weather treating you?? Hope you all had a great weekend!!

A Day at Brookfield Zoo with George! (Pic Heavy)

George and I decided to go to the Zoo Sunday.. It was his first time (and my second) going to Brookfield. We had a really fun time and couldn't wait to go again in the future! I took TONS of pictures.. but mainly of the animals. I won't bore you with too many photos of animals.. but I thought I'd share a few.

Here's me and George by the pond. I was not this tan at all! It was extremely sunny and for some reason I came out orange in this picture. :( It would of been cute if It wasn't for the weird lighting.

I told him to pose. LOL

George really liked watching the wild dogs.. I think I got a pretty cool shot of this little guy..

The giraffes were so adorable..

We spent a while watching the monkeys.. they were very entertaining.

I couldn't stop laughing at the sloth. I couldn't believe how slow they actually move! This little guy was totally in slow motion.

Another one of me with terrible lighting..

And the petting zoo!
George was teasing these little coons with goat food.. Poor things. I told him to stop..

George was teasing the ducks too.. you can tell the one in the left pic was pissed! LOL

This picture makes me laugh.. I walked over to find George talking to this goat and he had his front legs perked up on the fence to get closer to him.

 George feeding the goats..

 Me feeding the goats..

Lol, he took a real liking to this little goat..

Well, that's pretty much it! What'd you do this past weekend!? Anything fun???
