Giorgio Armani #8 Champagne Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow Review, Photos and Swatches!

Giorgio Armani #8 Champagne Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow

Giorgio Armani #8 Champagne Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadow ($32) is a pinked-champagne with a high metallic finish. It's a beautiful shade that can be used as a wash of color on the eyes for a quick and easy every day look, and it also looks great on the cheekbones as a highlight. I think it's a shade that can be both used at day or night, but it does sport a high metallic shine, so some might prefer it as a highlight/accent shade for the workplace rather than wearing it all over the lids.

Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill Intense Eyeshadows are described as being an innovative hybrid texture that isn't a powder or a cream. If you haven't felt these yourself, they feel like an extremely finely milled pressed or compacted pigment. The silkiness of the shadow makes it almost feel like a cream, but it's most definitely a powder. What's lovely about them is that because of the smooth texture, the shadow applies smoothly like a cream, but because it's a powder, it doesn't crease like a cream eyeshadow would.

If you've tried the L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows, you've had a little taste of the Eyes to Kill Eyeshadows because the texture is so similar. The Giorgio Armani shadows are just a bit silkier/less dry. Some people inquire if these are anything like the Chanel Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadows and they aren't at all. The Illusion D'Ombre's are more-so like a cream consistency.

Although the powder is pressed down, when you touch it, the formula flakes a bit, so to reduce mess and fall-out during application, I like to use my fingers. A sponge applicator also works well. If you want to use a brush, a dense brush will work best to pick up a good amount of product for opaque coverage (such as a concealer brush or something like the Sigma E60 Shader Brush, as fluffy brushes can create some fall-out and a lighter coverage overall).

This shadow wears incredibly well throughout the day. Even after several hours, my eyes still shimmer with color and the intensity hasn't gone down at all. I've worn this with and without a base and I can barely tell a difference in wear. It should last you all day.

Overall these are really fantastic shadows to try if you love a lot of pigment and glitz. I think they are great for beginners as well as those who tend to do their makeup quickly and on-the-go. You can literally smear this across your lids and be out the door.

The only negative is that it's easy to get fallout because the powder crumbles a little when you swipe it. It's not too big of a deal and is minimized by using the fingers to apply, but still, it's something that can be a little aggravating.

Will I try more of these? I'll most likely end up trying a couple additional shades - perhaps some of the brown shades, but I'm no rush.

#8 Champagne Swatched dry and wet. There isn't a big difference other than when it's wet it looks slightly more metallic. Almost like a liquid metal.

Have you tried these? I'd love to hear your thoughts about them. Any favorites?

The Round-Up

Pros:
  • Vibrant, metallic color
  • Opaque pigmentation
  • Easy to use
  • Blends easily
  • Really long lasting
  • Lightweight, pretty packaging
  • This particular color can be used on the cheeks as well for a highlight
Cons:
  • There is a little fall-out due to the soft crumbly texture.
  • A bit expensive, but on the plus side, you get a good amount of product (0.14 oz for $32). Nars eyeshadows contain half as much product (0.07 oz for $24) and MAC eyeshadows contain a little over 1/3 the amount of product (0.05 oz for $15).
Price: $32, Giorgio Armani.

    1. It is a bit pricey, which is the main reason I chose a shade that I figured I can wear very often, if not every day. It is a luxurious product though, and a nice treat if you're feeling like splurging.

Thank you! I'm wearing Covergirl Lash Blast (the original orange tube) with Shiseido Mascara Base as my primer. It's my go-to combo!

  4. A little off subject but I had a quick foundation question. I am currently just using revlon colorstay whipped but I am thinking about going the higher end route. My skin is on the oily side. I am considering either MUFE mat velvet, ELDW or Laura Mercier silk creme. Have you tried any of these? Any suggestions? Thanks so much! :))

  5. Wow this color is beautiful! The shine makes it really high impact, even with just mascara added! How do you think the Armani shadows compare to the L'oreal Infallible ones? Do you think it's worth the price to go w/ Armani?

  10. I'm obsessed with ETK! I love them so much. They are BY FAR my favorite eyeshadows. I'm a little embarrassed to say that I own 15 of them and could never pick a favorite. Just gorgeous pigmentation and a little goes a long way so it's totally worth it to me. Just ordered this shade a few days ago and awaiting her arrival! Really pretty on you :) xoxo
