Love this bright lip combo!

Wet n Wild 511B Nouveau Pink (First mentioned in my haul post here)
NYX Round Lipgloss in Doll Pink (Mentioned in my '09 NYX post here)

I love bright lipsticks, but the truth is... they make me nervous. For whatever the reason may be, bright lipsticks are out of my comfort zone. I do admire a good bright lipstick when I see one, maybe even purchase it, but it will just end up collecting dust in my lipstick drawer.

There are some days where I'll feel like being a little more adventurous with my lip color, and I'll toss on MAC Vegas Volt, MAC Morange, NYX Louisiana or OCC Divine Lip Tar without much thought. In the past month or so, Wet n Wild Nouveau Pink has pretty much replaced all of those other brights I like to wear - who woulda thought at 99 cents? It's such a flattering shade that really brightens up my face (and I'm pretty sure it makes my teeth appear whiter). It's really pretty on it's own, but I like pairing it with NYX Round Lipgloss in Doll Pink. It takes it up a notch.

If you're terrified of brights (or red) like me, I recommend experimenting with the inexpensive brands before investing in a high end lipstick you may only wear once a year. Wet n Wild has great options for a low price. If you like the color, force yourself to wear it! Don't look in the mirror every 15 minutes while you're out, forget that you're wearing it. If you can get through a full day of wearing it before putting on something else neutral, you've passed the test! I bet you'll get some compliments too while you're out. Try it more often!

Drugstore Haul! Hair Dye, Lipstick, Lipgloss, Glitter + Crackle Nail Polish!

This post jumps around a little bit, but I didn't want to break it into separate posts. Hope you don't mind! Anyway, he's my haul from a couple of days ago. Everything was purchased from Walgreens. I purchased the Rimmel at 50% off and the Wet n Wild at 50% off with their current sale.

Clairol Nice n' Easy Perfect 10 Hair Color #5 Medium Brown
Pure Ice Crackle Nail Polish in Jetsetter
Sinful Colors Glitter Nail Polish in Nail Junkie 927
Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Pink Blush 006
Wet n Wild Mega Matte Lipstick in Think Pink 901B
Wet n Wild Lipstick in Nouveau Pink 511B
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip gloss in Pink Remedy 110

Clairol Nice n' Easy Perfect 10 Hair Color #5 Medium Brown. I've read pretty good reviews for this box dye, so I thought I'd give it a try instead of my regular Clairol Natural Instincts Brass Free Brunettes. I love my previous dye, but it just didn't cover the grays well enough. (Yes, I do have grays) I'm hoping that this dye will work better for that. I should be using it in the next few days.

[Outdoors, No Flash] Left to Right: Wet n Wild 901B Think Pink, Wet n Wild 511B Nouveau Pink, Rimmel Lasting Finish Pink Blush 006
[Outdoors, Flash] Left to Right: Wet n Wild 901B Think Pink, Wet n Wild 511B Nouveau Pink, Rimmel Lasting Finish Pink Blush 006
Wet n Wild 901B Think Pink is a warm, bubblegum pink. I rarely come across pinks that I really like because cool toned pinks don't suit my skintone, and it's difficult to find a warm pink that's light enough, opaque and has no shimmer. I actually already own this shade, but I purchased another as a backup because it was on sale for 50% off at Walgreens.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Pink Blush 006 is also a bubblegum pink, but it's a bit cooler in tone compared to Think Pink. It's often compared to MAC Viva Glam Gaga (the first one).

Wet n Wild Lipstick in Nouveau Pink 511B is a bright, magenta-pink. Ever since I saw it on Jo, I had to have it. The formula is surprisingly nice for a 99 cents lipstick. It's creamy and applies evenly and has great color payoff. See it on Jomakemeblush by clicking here.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip gloss in Pink Remedy 110
Rimmel Moisture Renew Lip Gloss in Pink Remedy 110 is a medium toned pink gloss filled with very fine shimmer and the slightest bit of frost. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the color - pretty in the tube but does not show up on my lips and the color can't be easily built. I do like the fact that it contains an SPF (15) and has a large, flattened applicator.
Wet n Wild Nouveau Pink Lipstick
Sinful Colors Glitter Nail Polish in Nail Junkie 927 has a teal-blue very sheer base, combined with chunky blue glitter, multicolored glitter and fine green glitter. I purchased this because it reminded me a little bit of a Butter London polish I really want called Henley Regatta.

Pure Ice Crackle Nail Polish in Jetsetter is a royal blue with a pearl finish. Honestly, I never really liked crackle polishes, and I never thought I'd purchase one. But when I saw a large display of Pure Ice Crackle Polishes at my Walgreens for $3.99 each, I thought I ought to purchase my first one to review. There were several colors to pick from, but I ended up picking blue. I thought it would look really cool over a green or lighter blue polish.. and possible over the glitter polish I had just purchased.

A photo I took with my cell phone at Walgreen's of the Pure ICE Crackle Polishes
I find it a little difficult to work with. I've never used any other crackle nail polish, so I can't compare, but it dries very quickly and starts crackling right away. I find that you have to coat your nail extremely quick, and if you go over the polish, it won't crackle as well. It crackles the best when the coat of polish is very thin.

Left to Right: A Generic bright, seafoam green polish with one coat of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie on top, China Glaze For Audrey with Pure Ice Crackle Jetsetter on top, A Generic bright, seafoam green polish (same as index finger) with Pure Ice Crackle Jetsetter on top, Three Coats of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. All  nails have one coat of Seche Vite Top Coat, except for my pinky.

I actually liked how each nail tuned out. I think the glitter polish looks really pretty over the bright green, and I think it would look really pretty over a blue polish as well!

Do you own any of these products? Do you have any drugstore favorites you can recommend? Let me know in the comments! ☺

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Airy Fairy!

Rimmel Airy Fairy Lipstick

Airy Fairy is a lipstick you probably all know about. The particular shade is the most popular of Rimmel's shade selection, as it's a great every day color that is flattering on several skin tones. The color is a pink-mauve with a golden sheen. The actual color is quite "cool" (purple/blue toned) but because of the golden sheen, it's a bit more wearable on my warm skin tone. I stay away from lipsticks with any traces of purple to them, as they do nothing for me - but because of the popularity of this color, I thought I'd take the opportunity to try it out in a recent swap. I'm not too crazy about it alone, but it looks really pretty under a pink lip gloss. The formula is smooth, applies evenly and feels moisturizing on the lips. It is fairly opaque and builds well for full opacity.

Top: Swatched heavily,  Bottom: Swatched once
Left: Airy Fairy on my Bare Lips, Right: Airy Fairy with NYX Sheer Gloss in the shade Vintage applied over top.
Airy Fairy is rated 4/5, with a 72% re-purchase rate based on makeupalley.com reviews.

Jo, from Jomakemeblush has mentioned this lipstick several times, and it looks gorgeous on her NC40 skintone! Check out her posts where she mentions it, by clicking here.

Do you own this lipstick? Is it a yay or nay for you?

NYX Round Lipstick in the Shade "Hermes"

NYX Round Lipstick - Hermes
NYX Round Lipstick - Hermes
NYX Hermes is a creamy browned, neutral shade. It has a slight pink - and I almost even want to say red tone, but there really isn't any red in this lipstick. On my lips, it appears a very neutral brown, absent of any yellow tones. Although it isn't at all flattering against my skintone when applied straight from the tube, it's much more wearable for me when my lips are blotted with a tissue, leaving a soft line around the edges. It reminds me a bit of MAC Stripdown Lipliner (which is one of my favorites). From the various photos I came across searching Google, Hermes is a favorite nude shade among those with a deep skintone. On deeper skintones, the pink tone in this lipstick is much more visible.

The formula of this lipstick is smooth and opaque with a semi-shiny/satiny finish.

NYX Hermes swatched on my bare lips.

This wasn't a shade I would of normally picked up, but I received it in a swap, so I decided to post about it! Like mentioned, it's a fabulous shade for deep skintones and it works out well for me blotted, or as a lip liner.

MAC (LE) Cut-a-Caper Lipstick! Swatches & Lots of Comparisons!

mac cup a caper

MAC Cut-a-Caper Lipstick

MAC Cut-a-Caper Lipstick is a semi-opaque, medium coral-pink with a lustre finish. It's a limited edition shade that launched in the MAC 2010 Tartan Tale Collection.

The color is quite pigmented and can be built easily with additional coats. It is vibrant, but not nearly as vibrant as it looks in the tube. Because it's not completely opaque, it's a shade that's easy to wear.

Here is MAC Cut a Caper on my lips (my lips are lined with MAC Subculture Lip Pencil)

Here is a comparison of Cut-a-Caper next to MAC Jazzed and Everhip (both limited edition shades). Sadly, I don't own MAC Ravishing, but it's another lipstick that is often compared to these.

Swatches from left to right: MAC Cut a Caper, MAC Everhip and MAC Jazzed.

All three lipsticks are very similar. They share the same vibrancy and depth. Cut-a-Caper has the strongest pink tone of the three. Jazzed has the most orange/coral tone. Everhip is the "in-between". It's stronger in pink than Jazzed, and more orange/coral than Cut-a-Caper.

Other Comparisons: (I forgot to add Illamasqua Obey in the bunch - which definitely belongs in the category)

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in the shade Pink Sugar + Photos & Swatches!

 Revlon Pink Sugar Lipstick

Revlon ColorBurst Lipstick in the shade Pink Sugar is a sheer, light pink with silver/golden flecks of glitter. The lipstick has a yellow undertone, which is what drew me to purchase it. In the tube, it reminds me a bit of MAC Hue - but a little bit lighter. Swatched next to each other, they are quite different. While Hue is a true "bubble gum" pink, Pink Sugar is more of a "cotton candy" pink - like Nars Turkish Delight.

The biggest disappointment with this lipstick is the pigmentation. It is incredibly sheer, and no matter how many times you swipe it across your lips, it will never look like the color you see when you look at the tube. Also, this lipstick has a lot of glitter, so it feels a little gritty on your lips - which is not something I'm very crazy about. When it's on my lips, I don't find the glitter to be very noticeable. You definitely have to moisturize your lips prior to application because the very light pigment can settle into dry cracks and accentuate your dryness. It has a "glaze" finish, which I really like.

I think this lipstick is best suited for lighter skin tones. It would be a great sheer, nude for those with little pigment in their lips. This may not be the best lipstick for very pigmented lips, as it may wash you out & make your lips appear slightly gray or purple. If you like MAC Underage lipglass, you may like this. I find them to be similar in depth. Underage is a color that really didn't suit my NC40 skin tone, as it made my lips appear gray in color. So after testing it once, I gave it away. This lipstick looks the best on me when I have little to no self tanner on.

Here it is applied heavily to my lips.
I purchased this lipstick from CVS for $6.49, and received $4 in extrabucks. So, it was basically like I paid $2.49.

Have you tried this shade? What did you think of it?

MAC Bare Again Sheen Supreme Lipstick Review, Photos and Swatches!

MAC Bare Again Sheen Supreme Lipstick

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipsticks are the newest range of lipsticks that will now be a part of MAC's permanent collection. The Sheen Supremes are said to be a hyrid of a lipstick and lipgloss - pigmented like a lipstick and shiny like a lipgloss. *For reference, these are redeemable for Back 2 MAC.

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipsticks are available in fourteen (14) shades: Bare Again, Behave Yourself, Can't get Enough, Can't Resist, Full Speed, Good to be Bad, Gotta Dash!, Impressive, Insanely It, Look at Her!, New Temptation, Quite the Thing!, Supremely Confident and Ultra Darling.

I began swatching a few and noticed right away that the consistency is very different than any other of the MAC lipstick formulas. The Sales Associate I was speaking with compared the formula to the Cremesheen formula, but a little bit softer.

Bare Again Sheen Supreme Lipstick is a sheer, but buildable, warm beige-pink. It appears as a bright mauve in the tube, but applies slightly rosier. The color is actually very similar to the color of my actual lips. It's a really great "My Lips But Better" lipstick shade that can flatter just about any skin tone.

MAC Jazzed Lipstick Review, Swatches and Comparisons!

jazzed lipstick review

Mac Jazzed Lipstick

MAC Jazzed Lipstick is a limited edition lipstick from the 2010 Summer (In the Groove) Collection. I bet a lot of you are surprised that I never owned Jazzed considering it's a lipstick that's in my favorite shade category.. haha!

Jazzed is a medium, vibrant coral-peach with a shiny finish. Temptalia describes it as-
"a cross between Ravishing and Vegas Volt–not as peach/orange as Ravishing, but not as bright as Vegas Volt. It’s not too warm, so I think cooler skin tones can wear this well. This is not like Ever Hip–this is peach, orange, but not pink, which Ever Hip most definitely is."

OCC Hush, Divine and Trick Lip Tars Review and Swatches!

OCC Divine, Trick and Hush Lip Tars

For a brief review, Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tars are ultra-pigmented lip colors that combine the opaque pigment of a lipstick with the ease and application of a lipgloss. In fact, they are so pigmented that you can't apply them directly from the tube. For the best results, the use of a lip brush (or your finger) is needed. They feel incredibly light on the lips, and are comfortable to wear. There is a large selection of colors, which are meant to be mixed to create your own unique lip color!

After trying out my first Obsessive Compulsive Lip Tar in the shade Cha Cha a few months back, I knew I wanted to purchase more shades. So, like I mentioned in my haul post this past Wednesday, I caved in and purchased three more lip tars. I chose shades that don't require mixing and would be practical for every day.

After going through countless swatches of lip tars via google, I decided on Trick, Hush and Divine.

Trick is a light-medium, neutral peach-beige with a hint of pink-brown.
Hush is a light, neutral, mauvey pink.
Divine is a bright neon coral-pink, or flamingo pink.

Illamasqua Obey Lipstick Review, Swatches & Comparisons.

illamasqua obey lipstick

Illamasqua Obey Lipstick

Illamasqua Obey Lipstick ($22) is described as a coral-pink with a matte finish. Since peachy-pinks are my favorite shades of lipstick to wear, Obey was my first choice out of all of the different shades Illamasqua has to choose from.

Obey is very vibrant and very opaque. Applied heavily, it looks neon, so I like only applying a thin layer and applying a little gloss on top. It's absolutely gorgeous!

I like the formula of this lipstick and even though it's a matte, it hasn't seemed to dry out my lips more than average. If my lips are already dry though, it does accentuate the dryness a little bit (which is normal with matte lipsticks.)

The quality is what you'd expect from a YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick. It's buttery soft and creamy and applies to the lips like a dream. Despite it's creaminess, it feels very light - almost slippery on the lips. It also has the signature mango scent.

Maybelline Born with It and Pink Please Color Sensational Lipsticks Review, Photos & Swatches!

Maybelline Born with It and Pink Please Color Sensational Lipsticks

Born with it and Pink Please are extremely similar. They are both light pinks - Pink Please is a bubblegum pink with no frost/sparkle and Born with it is the slightest touch lighter and has a very fine, shimmery sheen. In the tubes they both appear to be shiny like a MAC Cremesheen or Lustre.

When I initially purchased these lipsticks, I thought they were going to be warm pinks.. But applied to the lips they are pretty neutral. Pink Please is slightly warmer than Born With It. On my lips, they both appear to be slight lilac pinks. The sparkle in Born With It is barely visible - it just makes the lipstick appear slightly shiny. I could really only tell the difference between the two when I applied them heavily. Applied heavy, Pink Please is definitely bolder. Born with it is a little lighter and natural.

Wet n Wild Just Peachy Mega Last Matte Lipstick w/ This Too Shall Glass Glassy Gloss! LOVE!

Wet n Wild Mega Matte Lipstick Just Peachy 903C
&
Wet n Wild Glassy Gloss This Too Shall Glass

Wet n Wild Just Peachy 903C is a creamy, warm (yellow toned) peachy/coral pink. It somewhat reminds me of MAC Shygirl.. but Shygirl is slightly more muted. The color itself is very pretty and I think would be flattering on any skin tone. It isn't pale where it will wash you out, nor is it too bold for those who are use to wearing nudes. There is no scent to this lipstick. It applies very smooth, with lots of pigmentation. The finish is a satiny matte.

The only downside is the terrible packaging. As you can tell, there are identations on the lipstick from the tube. For some reason, these lipsticks get so messy in the tube. I only used this twice so far (since I purchased it last night) and there are already lipstick marks inside the cap. The lipstick itself is not very secure in the tube. With my other two lipsticks, each time I use them.. the lipstick bullet (is that what it's really called? I heard someone refer to it as that.) separates. So far, this one seems a little secure.. but I'm sure as the week passes.. it won't be secure anymore. Once it does separate.. it's fine to apply.. no problems.. but the inside of the cap gets so messy.. and being it's clear.. it's not cute. Also, for some reason.. these lipsticks only say the actual name of them on the clear packaging that you throw away once opened. The bottom of the lipstick only reads the number 903C. I would have no idea this lipstick is called "Just Peachy" if I didn't read the label before I threw it away.

Anyway, the product itself makes up for the crappy packaging. And being it's $2.99 a tube.. and I always see it for 50% off at the drugstores.. I can't complain much. But C'mon Wet n Wild.. I hope you get enough letters to change the packaging!

As for the gloss.. It's very nice. It's a sheer pink with a golden sheen. The color itself is very sheer.. I wish it was more opaque to be worn alone.. but i'll be pairing this up with any of my nude lipsticks. I love the formula. It's not sticky or thick.. watery or runny. It's the perfect smooth consistency..

Top: Just Peachy on my bare lips Bottom: Just Peachy with This Too Shall Glass on top

Do you own this lipstick or gloss? Love them? Hate them? Post in the comments below! :)
