Maybelline FIT ME Foundation & Concealer Review, Photos & Swatches!

Maybelline FIT ME Foundation & Concealer

The first time I caught a glimpse of this line was at Wal-mart a couple of weeks ago. I was right away very interested because of the sleek packaging and the golden-yellow shades this line had to offer, which is very hard to find in drugstore foundations. I didn't see a price though, so I passed it up. It wasn't until last weekend when I was at my local Jewel/Osco browsing the cosmetic aisle, I spotted the display - the foundation was on sale for only $5.99!! So, I found my match and purchased a bottle.

PRODUCT DETAILS
Maybelline FIT ME Foundation
Blends beautifully for an undetectable finish. It does not clog pores. Leaves your skin the way it is supposed to be.. Fresh, Breathing & Flawless. The secret to the weightless coverage & natural finish is the translucent base & ultra light weight pigments. Fit Me's translucent base is less opaque so your natural hues will come through for a better match. Sheer to Medium coverage that is buildable. SPF 18. Comes in 18 shades.

Maybelline FIT ME Concealer
Apply to spots, blemishes & dark circles. The concealer uses similar technology to the foundation so you can cover imperfections seamlessly. There are 6 shades that coordinate with the foundation shades.

Maybelline FIT ME Powder
Like the foundation, the powder is never cakey & completely natural looking because the ultra light pigments are so blendable and gives skin the most natural finish with the perfect shade match. Comes in 18 shades, that coordinate with the foundation colors. Apply after your foundation and concealer for a flawless look for the day.

Maybelline FIT ME Blush
Designed to find the right shade that will compliment your skin tone, rather than clash with it. Comes in 12 shades of blush and 3 shades of bronzer.

Considering Maybelline doesn't have this line on their website yet, the only info I could find was from a YouTube video that appears to be an informational video about the line. I'm a little confused why the video I watched said it comes in 18 shades, but in stores I have only seen 12 shades? Hmm, I guess we'll have to wait and see when Maybelline adds the product to their website. I linked the source, so you can check it out of you'd like. The line was supposed to launch Jan 2011, but it looks like several stores launched the line early.

"Let's the real you come through" seems to be Maybelline's slogan for this line. All of their shades of foundation, concealer, powder and blush coordinate with each other. The product display racks are set up in different rows of light, medium and dark. In each row, there are the foundations, concealers, powders, blushes and bronzer for your skin tone. The idea behind this to make it easier for you to pick out a shade that is going to work for your skin tone instead of having to look elsewhere for each product and "guess" if it will flatter your skin tone. For each foundation shade, the display is labeled with the exact shade of concealer and powder that will work with the particular foundation shade.

I think it's a great concept & will definitely make it easier for consumers. With each foundation, there is also a small tester, so you can swatch the color on your hand to give you a better idea if it will be the proper color match.

While in the store, I swatched three shades on my hand that appeared the most yellow/golden and in my skin tone range. They were the shades 220 Natural Beige, 230 Natural Buff & 310 Sun Beige. I didn't have my digital camera, so I used my phone to snap a couple of photos.

All of the shades were very similar, but I ended up choosing the lightest one of the three; 220. It seemed to have a very nice balance of  beige and yellow. I swatched #220 next to MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NC30 and they were almost identical, but #220 was very slightly deeper. MAC appeared more warm (orange) and #220 appeared slightly more golden-beige. I think its a good match for NC35, but it will probably work if you're a NC30 as well. #230 is a little more peach toned than #220, but should be a good NC37-40 match. #235 appeared too pink, but #310 had a good yellow tone and should be a good match for NC42.

Here is Maybelline FIT ME Foundation in #220 and Maybelline FIT ME Concealer in #20.

And, both swatched on my hand in better lighting with my digital. (Indoors, no flash with natural light)

Review: I love this foundation! The first thing I noticed about this foundation is the wonderful texture. It is light, thin and very creamy. It blends easily and evenly, and has a natural, satiny-dewy finish. I do notice a slight fragrance, which can be bothersome to those sensitive to fragrance, but it's very subtle and fresh. It actually smells just like Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation.

I would say it has a good medium coverage. It doesn't feel heavy or appear "mask-like". The only con I found with this foundation is that it's not long lasting, which is a must for me. I wore it for New Years (applied my makeup at around 6 PM) and around 12-1 AM I had noticed that the foundation had faded almost completely off my nose and chin area. But, It didn't look too bad, as it didn't fade blotchy. It just seemed to evaporate off my face. I'd say at the 4-5 hour mark, I'll have to touch up my nose or chin.

Although I love the finish of this foundation, you definitely need a setting powder because this foundation gets very dewy after a while. I could see this being a better foundation for those with dry and normal skin.

As for the concealer, I really like it as well. I usually like full coverage concealers, and this one isn't full coverage. It's more of a natural-medium coverage, with a satin finish. I use it under my eyes and it doesn't cake or sit in my fine lines. I would compare it to MAC Moisturecover.

Here's me wearing Fit Me in #220. (Sorry for the bad quality photo - it was taken on my phone)

Both were pretty good buys, and I'm satisfied with both of them. I'm so happy that Maybelline has come out with such an affordable line. Some of the blushes looked very pretty- there was a bright fuchsia and one very reminiscent of Nars Madly. I'm not so sure about the quality of Maybelline blushes.. I've never tried any. What do you think??

I've been seeing so many new drugstore products for 2011! I can't wait to try them all! :)

  2. I bought some too and I loved the smell and how easily it went on and blended. Like you mentioned, a few hours later it was gone. Though it didn't leave my skin looking blotchy, I was still like what the heck?! I really wish it was a longer lasting one!

  3. Hmm I think I'll try this! Thanks for the review!

  5. i've been reading reviews on this, everyone says practically the same thing you've mentioned. i have combination skin and i need a foundation that is moisturizing and that doesn't get oily after a couple hours, doesn't sound like work, but, at $6 it's def worth a try! I'll pick up 220 (nw30) and i'll see how it works for me, great review!

  7. Great review! I've really been loving this foundation as well, but I agree that it's not very long-lasting. I also have oily skin but it still works great for me :)

  9. I love how it looks flawless on you but maybe a bit too pink/red for you no? maybe its my comp :)

  10. Thank you so much for doing a review on this. I was so intrigue when I first saw Maybelline Fit Me. I absolutely love the simplicity of it all. Thank you again. I will definitely go and get me one.

@Jessica: I totally agree with you.

@Natalie: You're absolutely beautiful. But I do think 220 is too pink for you. 230 is a more suitable match you.

  11. The finish is pretty but that color is definitely not for you. It doesn't match your neck. Maybe you should try the 310 -- seems like it has more yellow. Remember foundation may look dark in the bottle but it dries lighter on your face. I've noticed this with most drugstore foundations. Thanks for your review!

  12. amber- LOL yep! That was my reaction. But thats what I typically expect with DS foundations.

Janine - Yeah! Def try it out.. I've seen it for even less. It's a bargain - even if you only use it for those "lazy days" ;)

    Tiffany - Awesome!!!

Jessica - It's definitely the camera setting I had it on. It kind of dulled my face as well. I always try messing around with the settings to get the truest represenation of the colors. It always looks different from what I see on my camera screen and when I actually upload it to the comp. I hate when that happens!! Sometimes I take a ton of FOTD pics that look great on camera, but when I upload them.. the colors all look off. But, I wore this on New Years and was in countless pictures and my foundation looked great!

Anonymous - Thank you so much!! :) 220 is working fine. 230 is actually more beige - which is why I went with 220. When I'm less tan (like I am right now) it works excellent. If I decide to go a little darker, I may try out a darker shade. Thanks!

JJ - Thanks for the tips, but its fine.

  13. Thanks for the post on this line of products. They caught my eye as well, but I've never been a fan of maybelline (except their mascaras). I found that I still couldn't find one with enough yellow undertones....

  14. Great review! I definitely need 2 try it but I am a first time foundation wearer so i should check out some different foundations first. Any ideas?

  15. Seems like most like 220 - me too. The first time I tried this foundation, it just seemed so much nicer than any other I have. I love it. I hate a too thick foundation, and this one definitely is not too thick. I can't wait to try the powder.

  16. Thanks for the review, I just saw the commercial and decided to research...and came across your post!. I am excited to try it but I wanted to know -- since I have a red undertone to my skin, would you suggest this foundation for me?. I usually wear MAC natural skin finish in deep dark and their concealer in NW45..

  17. Hey - did you find the best application with a sponge or foundation brush??

Also was the 310 similar to 220 but with more yellow??

  18. Great review! I can't wait till it hits the Australian markets hahaha I'm still waiting! Love the finish on you, you gorgeous girl you are :)

  20. I loved this and wore it for 2 days until I broke out in a rash/hives! Turns out I was allergic to it. I am pretty sure it was the SPF ingredient. Just a warning! :)

  21. I used this concealer for a week and my skin broke out terribly. It goes on well but after a few hours it becomes greasy and dirty. I don't recommend regular use for this product, especially with young or sensitive skin.

    ReplyDelete
  22. i had the lightest shade because im quite pale.
But i used it everyday , and it blended in well. But in 3-4 hours it would be gone. It doesn't even last my whole school day. I've never tried the powder foundation :|

  23. Im so glad you did a review on this! I was thinking of buying but wanted an opinion I trust ;)

  24. I Have All Three Products, Maybelline Concealer, Foundation, And Powder. Are You Suppose To Wear All Three At The Same Time.? For Example, With The Concealer Only Cover Blemishes Not The Whole Face, Then Foundation All Over The Face And Finally The Powder All Over Your Face.?

  25. DO NOT BUY THIS if you have oily skin.

  29. If you use sephora's lasting primer the fit me line stays a lot better! It lasts about 7 hrs ! And great post by the way. :)

  30. Worse stuff I've ever used. Got addicted to it cause it does make you look absolutely flawless. But it ruined my skin. I've had flawless porcelain skin my whole life and now I have huge acne scars and craters on both my cheeks. I used to not need much makeup and now I'm a slave to it bc my skin is so gross. Very sad.

  31. I've used every drugstore brand foundation you can think of and I always come back to this one! I love it! The only thing I do not like is that it also doesn't last the whole night for me but a good setting spray fixes that! (:

  32. I never found a foundation that matches me as good as the 220 fit me. Does anyone know another foundation brand that sells the same shade as the 220 (very yellow)? Would love to try out something new. THX!
