A Quick Review - Nail Magic Nail Hardener and Conditioner!

Nail Magic Nail Hardener and Conditioner

I just wanted to quickly share with you a product that I've been using constantly for the past several weeks and have seen great results with!

This winter my nails have really taken a beating to the dry air. In just one day, I broke 4 of my nails on one hand (all while grocery shopping and running errands). Any slight ding and my half of my nail was gone. It was at the point of ridiculousness, so in desperation I made a quick run to Sally's, which happened to be in the same mall - jagged nails and all.

So I walked out with a bottle of Nail Magic that was recommended to me by the sales associate.

Nail Magic contains a blend of ingredients that not only strengthens the nails, but also conditions them. It treats splitting, chipping and repairs weak and/or damaged nails.

You can use it alone, applied as a base coat, and it even says that you can use it as a top coat (which I haven't tried).

I've been applying two coats to my nails and leaving them bare of any other polish. In the bottle the liquid is tinted pale pink, but it applies clear and makes the nails look a little more primped and shiny.

I'm kind of hard on my hands with household chores so it does wear off my tips within a couple of days, but when it does, I'll usually just remove it with nail polish remover and apply it again.

As long as it's on my nails I can definitely feel that my nails are stronger/less brittle and I haven't had any more instances of broken nails. Also, I had some splitting on some of my nails prior and most of it seems to have went away.

Another thing I like about this is that it makes my nail tips appear slightly whiter, which is great because my tips always get stained from self tanner, which isn't pretty in the least.

My only gripe with this stuff is that the smell is pretty strong and toxic and the short wear time. Other than that, I think it's great! I think it'd be worth a go if you're in need of something that works. I'll have to remind myself to use it on my toenails too; my largest toes always peel. Anyone else have that problem?

Do you use any nail strengtheners? If you know of any good ones, let me know in the comments. OPI Nail Envy seems to be pretty popular, as well as Nailtiques Formula 2 and Sally Hansen Nail Growth Miracle.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Nail Magic can be found your local Walgreens or Beauty Supply Store. It retails for around $6-$8.

  1. I never have good luck with nail hardeners and usually find they don't make a lasting difference to my nail state. However, I have been using Duri Rejuvacote for a few weeks now and it is the best I have tried so far!

  2. It's funny I just got Sally Hansen Triple Strong for the same reason, only I had only 3 nails break in one day! But it's funny because after reading a few reviews I was on the fence about getting the Nail Magic or the Sally Hansen. I'm going to start using the Sally Hansen this week so we'll see how it goes. If it doesn't work, I'll have to make a trip to Walgreens for the Nail Magic instead! So thanks for the review! Great timing for me!

  3. Hi dear! I do have the same problem which is exhausting ! You mentionned that this one is toxic, i know that hardener nail polish has the most toxic ingredients. Is this one has formaldehyde? toluene?

  4. This is somewhat unrelated, but I highly recommend using a tanning mit if you've never tried one. They make application soo much easier and it kind of saves your hands from the tanner :)

  5. This stuff really is magic! It made my nails soo strong. But as someone mentioned above it does have formaldehyde in it.

  6. I used Barielle Rebuilder Protein. It's a bit pricey (at least here in Canada) but it's totally worth it. I wear it under my nail polish (since I'm a polish blogger & can't bear to not wear polish) so it took a bit longer for results but if you're willing to wear bear nails it's pretty fast at strengthening/rebuilding. My nails are really long now, but I barely ever break the corners or have issues with splitting/peeling! I highly recommend it!

  8. Do you think this would help with nails that tend to split (near the edges of the nail bed)?

  9. I think I'm going to pick some up tomorrow and try it. My nails have been SO brittle and weak this winter and I've been trying to grow them out. I've had acrylics for years and this past year I decided to take a break. I've been looking for a good strengthening product, so I'll definitely have to try this. Thanks for the review!! :)

  11. The Gelous base coat (in a China Glaze shaped bottle with green top) at Sally's has been my go to since I took off my acrylics a few months ago. I do 2 coats under my polish and its made a huge difference for me.

  13. I'll definitely have to try this. I have the worst peeling nails and they tend to split and break off soo easily, inherited from mom and grandma! I've tried Barielle's for peeling nails, Qtica, Essie, Deborah Lippmann, probably every Sally Hansen, and every cuticle cream/oil/ointment ever made.. nothing works for me. I have a bottle of OPI nail envy original formula that I haven't tried yet, but I will definitely be stopping by Sally's to get my hands on this one and try it next!

  14. I bought this because my nails were so weak. The first time i used it my nails felt like they were on FIRE! So badly i had to take it off my nails. After researching this product and what others had experienced, I saw that others had the same issue if they just had acrylics taken off. The acrylic covered natural nail needs to completely grow out, or at least that was the case for me. Now that i dont use acrylics and my nails have grown out...one or two coats dont bug me. If i do three coats....my nails are once again on fire...

Good product for hardening and strengthening....but some side effects for me....

  16. I use "Brush on Wrap" from nail-aid. I don't think you can buy it at any store. I bought mine at nailaidcares.com. It's 6.50/bottle and they ship for free if you buy two or more. I have super thin nails and always use to chip or peel. It was so short to the point of bleeding. I started using their "Grow Tougher" and was able to grow my nail fairly long within a short amount of time. It takes a lot of work, definitely. I would remove the base coat whenever it started peeling on the top and reapply so that I always have a coat on my nail. Then I started using the wrap on, sometimes under nail polish or two coats of itself and was able to maintain a healthy, fairly long nails. Last time I used my nails to put some new keys on a key chain and I thought it was a goner but nothing chipped or peeled :) The smell isn't that strong, compare to nail magic and it last fairly long. You will have to use thinner and thin it a bit after four five months but a bottle last me up to eight nine months, even though I use it every other day.
