MY SKIN TYPE: My skin type year round is typically in the normal range, as I rarely suffer from dryness or excess oily skin. My skin is generally fairly clear with the exception of some minor, past blemish marks and light sun spots on my upper cheeks. My skin is also sensitive, and prone to break-outs. My breakouts usually occur on my lower cheeks.

AM:
(Cleanse) Cleanse my face using an Olay Pro-X Brush with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, rinse and pat dry.
(BHA/Blemish Control) Wipe a Stridex Pad all over my face; especially in areas prone to break-outs, let dry.
(Moisturizer) Apply a light moisturizer to my face such as DDF Ultra-lite Moisturizing Dew.
PM:
(Cleanse) Remove eye makeup with Jojoba Oil or Baby Oil and a cotton pad, wipe clean.
(Cleanse) Cleanse my face using an Olay Pro-X Brush with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, rinse and pat dry.
(AHA) (If my skin looks dull, or looks like it needs exfoliation, I will use an Ellen Lange Peel Accelerator Pad. If I use this, I will skip using a Stridex Pad, as I've read that using a BHA & AHA close together can cancel each other out. I'm not sure if it's true, but that's what I've been going by)
(BHA/Blemish Control) Wipe a Stridex Pad all over my face; especially in areas prone to break-outs, let dry.
(Serum/Treatment) Apply Hyaluronic Acid Serum all over my face to aid in hydration, let dry.
(Serum/Treatment) Apply Clarins Vital Light Serum all over my face to aid in evening out my complexion, let dry.
(Night Cream) Apply Reviva Labs Alpha Lipoic Acid, Vitamin C Ester, DMAE Night Cream, sometimes adding a drop of Argan Oil for added moisture and healing.
When I follow this routine, my skin looks it's best. It's hydrated, my complexion is even and radiant and I shouldn't have any breakouts (Unless it's hormonal). There are many instances where I will skip my routine from tiredness, and my skin ends up suffering the consequences with a scatter of blemishes. I always make sure to at least cleanse my face and use a Stridex Pad, if I'm not up to the rest, in order to avoid breakouts.
I love all of the products mentioned and I will continue using them until I find any better replacements. If you have any questions about any particular product mentioned, or have any recommendations, let me know in the comments below!
Its so important to keep a good cleaning routine. I love cetaphil. It leaves my face super soft.

Do the stridex pads work pretty well in preventing breakouts?
ReplyDeleteThis is so good to know Natty, I've been considering the Clarisonic, but I'm all about saving a buck. I just may try the Olay brand :) Thanks!
ReplyDeleteYou can get a free one as a gift when you order something from Proactiv. I think it works great, but I've not compared it to the Olay or Clarsonic brands.
DeleteOn the subject of BHAs and AHAs, basically there's no point to using a BHA after an AHA because the AHA has totally stripped the skin, including the live skin cells whereas BHAs will only strip dead skin cells. That just means that the BHA will have nothing to dissolve.
ReplyDeleteDani - Yes! They've helped me so much from keeping new breakouts from forming and for helping get rid of new breakouts.
ReplyDeleteJinelle - Definitely the best low cost alternative!
Megalina - Very good to know, thank you!
Olive oil is an excellent eye make-up remover as well, its what I use and I have yet to find something better. And you can't beat the price!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. Where do you purchase jojoba oil?
ReplyDeleteI also like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser

ReplyDeleteIs it really helps or it`s fail?
ReplyDeleteMarbear - I agree! Olive Oil works great!
ReplyDeleteAlly - I usually purchase mine at Whole Foods.
Mariana - Thanks so much! HAHA! I know, right!?
Anonymous - I do my face in sections, starting with my cheeks, moving it around for around 20 seconds in each section, then moving to my chin and forehead. I usually rinse and go back over my lower cheeks, which is where I would typically break out.
Anonymous - I actually use unrefined shea butter, which is basically raw shea butter that hasn't been processed. I purchase mine from Coastal Scents. It works wonderful as a healing moisturizer.
How much is the Olay Pro-X Exfoliating Brush?
ReplyDeleteAround $30.
DeleteDO NOT USE THE OLAY BRUSH!! , it will tear your pores and hurt you in the long run. Use a Clarisonic. Its expensive, but its worth it. Your skin will thank you.
ReplyDeleteAny facial brush including the Clarisonic can hurt your skin. So far, I've only had good results with it. The brush is soft and gentle on my skin.
DeleteIt is very useful.I wish this product will have real cleaning routine qualities. Thanks for sharing,I love your post..Natural Skincare
